Modular, Randomly-Assembled Totem in Shou Sugi Ban and Linseed Oil finish, based on 4x4 Douglas Fir blank. This totem is currently designed for indoor or outdoor display— or, more specifically, the current base is designed for indoor use alone. It stands roughly 71” tall on its own, 74” in its 16” x20” base, which comes with adjustable feet to assist at arriving to a level stance on floors and carpets.
Carved construction, arrived through use of a variety of power and hand saws and grinders. Sanded then treated with live flame. The Shou Sugi Ban treatment and Linseed Oil finish ensure weatherproof, bug-proof lifespan. Weighs approximately 20 lbs with the total of 17 4-inch blocks and its specifically designed box base. Sufficient ballast should be provided by buyer. Note: I favor using black Mexican Beach Stone, available at Home Depot ($18).
Because it breaks down so easily, this totem can be safely and effectively shipped in a single box and assembled on-site by the buyer to his/her preferential order and progression of the individual blocks. One block screws into the next by hand— you pick the order— and no tools are needed for the installation.
Finally, a more detailed word about shipping. Shipping my pieces is always expensive, both for the transit and for the time and materials that goes into the packaging. I generally charge a flat fee of $100 CONUS for my totems, which is always below the true cost— but because this piece breaks down sufficiently for shipping in a single box, I am offering Free Shipping to CONUS.
