Modular, Shaped, and Stacked Totem in Shou Sugi Ban and Linseed Oil finish, based on 6x6 Douglas Fir beam. This totem is designed for indoor or outdoor display. It stands roughly 53” in its 16” x16” base, which comes with adjustable feet to assist at arriving to a level stance on floors, patios, or carpets.
Carved construction, arrived through use of a variety of chain saws and grinders. Sanded then treated with live flame. The Shou Sugi Ban treatment and Linseed Oil finish ensure weatherproof, bug-proof lifespan. Weighs approximately 48 lbs with the total of 11 individual blocks that fit together through 5/8” steel rods and captive aluminum sleeves. The base box is designed to drain and has a compartment to hold some type of ballast selected and provided at the buyer’s end. Note: I favor using black Mexican Beach Stone, available at Home Depot ($18), as noted in the photographs of my other pieces.
Because it breaks down easily, this totem can be safely and effectively shipped in a single box and assembled on-site by the buyer. One block screws into the next by hand— and no tools are needed for the installation.
Finally, a more detailed word about shipping. Shipping these pieces is expensive, both for the transit and for the time and materials that goes into the packaging. Although free shipping is offered for CONUS destinations, please know that the actual shipping costs are significant at my end.
