Indoor-Outdoor Totem in Shou Sugi Ban and Linseed Oil finish, re-purposed mid-century modern 4x4 post. Custom indoor-outdoor base in marine plywood and heavy coats of Benjamin Moore stain and polyurethane, drilled for drainage. Totem stands roughly 76”x4.5”x3.5”. Box Base is roughly 16”x16”x3.5”. (Note: for an additional fee of $125, the box base can be swapped out for a 12x12x3/4 steel plate base— see Totem #78 as an example.)
Carved construction, including use of power and hand saws and grinders. Sanded then treated with live flame. The Shou Sugi Ban treatment and Linseed Oil finish ensure weatherproof lifespan. Weighs approximately 15 lbs without base. Base is designed to utilize stone for ballast— and I favor, as pictured, using black beach stone ($14/30lb. bag at Home Depot).
Will offer free, in-person delivery and installation for addresses within 2 hours of DC, with additional nominal fees for greater travel distances. (Note: I have undertaken delivery and installations as far from DC as California. Any buyer wishing to discuss this kind of delivery/intallation service is welcome to reach out to discuss such options.) The totem otherwise ships in two boxes, a tube for the totem and a box for the base, hardware, and installation instructions.
Finally, a more detailed word about shipping. Shipping these pieces is expensive, both for the transit and for the time and materials that goes into the packaging. I currently charge a flat fee of $100 CONUS, but please know that the actual shipping costs are usually more than 2x that rate. I find, however, that my absorbing any extra shipping cost is sufficiently balanced by placing the art with happy buyers.
